JIVAMUKTI YOGA

Our teachers’ guru described yoga as the state where one is missing nothing. Entering a state of deep and lasting happiness that is unshaken by the ups and downs of life.

Jivamukti yoga is a path to enlightenment through compassionfor all beings. The jivamukti method is grounded in the original meaning of the sanskrit word asana as “seat, connection” – relationship to the earth. Earth implies all of life.

The school is born out of a burning desire to share the ancient teachings of yoga philosophy with our modern world in hopes of awakening our own heart, body and mind with an integrated everyday practice.

Compassion is rebellious. The word jivamukti  suggests that the goal of all yoga practices - becoming free - can be attained by awakening our capacity for compassion towards all sentient beings.

The practice of yoga allows for a contemplation and transformation of the relationship with our inner and outer worlds. Our aspiration is to cultivate awareness and appreciation of life and all lives.

FOR THEM FOUNDATION

The word ahimsa is both a strong and noble wish deep inside one’s heart/mind not to cause harm and the practice of acting according to that wish. Over time the wish deepens and our capacity to express it expands.

The school actively supports the foundation in creating a world where compassion for all beings is the norm. It is said that there cannot be mastery without service and that nursing one broken heart equals to the worship of many years.

REBECA RECATERO

Born in Madrid, growing up she heard of yoga philosophy from her grandmother - a practitioner and teacher in the 80s - but it was only years later while living in Sydney, Australia that she first started studying yoga at the Jivamukti School.

A heartfelt sense of wanting to dive deep into the teachings of yoga arose in the clarity and stillness that followed her first practice. She has been studying regularly with her teachers since and she feels forever grateful to our transformative method.

Her teachings come now as a reflection of her dedicated daily practice and detailed observation of the natural world. Rebeca is devoted to protecting animal rights and teaching about yoga philosophy is her humble contribution to awakening our heart’s capacity for compassion towards all beings.

Her aspiration is to keep sharing the teachings as far and as deep as possible.
